SCANDALOUS

HARRIET RICHARDSON

About

In 2023, Harriet had the realization that her belief in being able to make meaningful change from within the established design world was an illusion. She describes creative expression as being part of her makeup, but selling her soul to unethical clients in the name of outdated design agencies is not. She explains that “the recurring themes of misogynistic, old, white, male management, pay inequality and toxic, capitalistic structures” resulted in her storming out of the “world of heartless corporate design”.
The night before she packed up her desk, she set herself up with a glass of wine and the office scanner.

This publication expresses the art of saying ‘f***k you’ to the corporate world through the medium of “ass-pressed-to-the-scanner”.
Why?

I deeply admired Harriet’s overall feminist approach to her work and use of performance art to document and experiment. I added this in because of the idea of playfulness and real stories and pushing the limits of design and the messages we put out.
