Photographer Aurther Comely has always been interested in the smaller details of people’s personal style.The gems on their teeth, how they’verolled up their jeans, or even the way they’ve laced up their trainers. Arthur is attracted to such unique signifiers of style, so it made sense for him to capture a place with a unique community and culture – one where people tended toward strong visual expression. Soon, he found himself immersed within the eclectic, varied world of South East London’s boot sales, now the subject of his upcoming zine £1 Entry.
Why?
My interest in photography, street photography and exploring human stories and behaviours is what lead me to Arthurs work. The composition, colours and close up shots make the audience feel a part of the scene. Making this into a printed zine and thinking about page layout relates to my own practice, pairing multiple process into a final outcome.
